HBB updated to v0.2.5b

24 January 2009 (v0.2.5b)

  • Keep retrying networking initialisation
  • Now shows the progress when extracting the zip files (thanks Tantric)
  • Detects the ftpii directory when using a password like ftpii_mypass
  • Keep meta.xml name when updating if it has been edited
  • Added more error checking when updating HBB, if updating fails it reverts back to the previous version
  • Media category becoming unavailable should now be fixed
  • Fixed controller screen to display accurate Dpad information

A few small things have been added to the HBB as shown above. The media category bug has finally been fixed as far as I can tell which is good news :). The extracting screen now has a progress bar thanks to Tantric and the network initialisation has been changed to keep retrying if it fails.

If you haven’t noticed some new pages on the blog I’ll point them out. The first one is HBB Development which gives you up to date information about the HBB development, features planned, bugs found, etc. You can also sign up, comment and submit bug reports. The second page is the HBB Guide which explains how things work.

Download HBB v0.2.5b or run HBB on your Wii to update.

    Nice work, thank you!

  4. teknecal says:

Zero: What error message do you receive?

  5. klchia says:

    Hi Teknecal,

Can HBB v0.2.5b work with HBC Beta 8?

i got the “fwrite error not owner” error message.

  6. Yossi says:

klchia, you need to slide the lock on your sd card to the unlocked (closer to the contacts) position.

teknecal, can’t you handle that error to give a more useful error message?

  7. teknecal says:

Please try what Yossi has mentioned. If that doesn’t work the other thing to try is formatting your SD card.

Yossi: Yeah, I’ll put a more helpful message which says either check your SD card lock or format your SD card.

    I first update Homebrew Channel

I download some media program (MPlayer, Mplayer C E,…) all is OK

After i wanted to go to the Homebrew Channel, it loads but it’s empty.

I only have the bubbles and anything else.

But all the files are on the SD card !

    Someone has a solution ?

  10. frames says:

    Oupps i did a mistake

It’s not Homebrew channel i have updated but Homebrew Browser

    Sorry

  11. teknecal says:

frames: Can you check to see that the files on your SD card are in like:
    /apps/Mplayer/
    /apps/MplayerCE/
    etc.

And that they contain a boot.dol file in the directory?
    /apps/Mplayer/boot.dol

    hi teknecal.

I am also having issues after the update.

I am now getting “this is not a valid wii application” when I launch the Homebrew browser.

Pls let me know if you need any more detail.

  14. teknecal says:

BC: You’ll have to update your HBB manually from here: http://www.codemii.com/download/

Have you ever had any issues when download games?
When you were updating HBB did the dots that show the progress reach about half of your screen?

Once you have v0.2.5b this issue won’t happen again.

  15. BC says:

    teknecal,

    thanks for the quick reply.

Ive never had issues with downloading games. I did have an issue with Geexbox where it would download, decompress and then delete itself (fixed by a manual install).

I’m not sure whether the HBB update completed as I wasn’t watching. I think it may have returned to the HB channel automatically (or my girlfriend pressed ‘OK’).

I’ll do a manual install and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again. HBB rocks!

  16. BC says:

    Manual install works fine.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
I have some problems with my sdhc 8 Gb card (exactly Sandisk MicroSD SDHC 8 Gb with adapter).
It works properly with HBB 0.2.5b but HBB only detects 4 Gb.
It is formatted FAT32 (asign units: 4096 bytes)
    Any suggestions?.
    Thanks from Spain.
    Cheers,
    cyberindio

  18. teknecal says:

I can’t really comment on it since I don’t have a 8 Gb card. How much MB/GB are you using on the card? Does it say 4000 MB free all the time or does it change?

  19. cyberindio says:

    Hello,
I am using 350 Mb (more or less) on the 8Gb card … but HBB shows “3650 Mb left” in the right botton corner.
I didn’t comment it yesterday … but 8gb-sdhc card also runs very slowly.
Thanks for your interest and your help, and of course your hard work!.
    Cheers,
    cyberindio!

    Hello,

I have install the new Mplayer, do you know how to configure the Share or SMB?
I believe that will be nice share your video files from the PC to the Wii will be nice.

    Thank you

  21. teknecal says:

    Hi,

I believe if you have the Mplayer edition with SMB support you need to edit the smb.conf file with your PC details.

  22. Dries says:

I feel really bad! I should have told you that connection now is made within 2 or 3 retries. So I can use HBB now. Thank you for your work!!!
